'Whether it be for personal interest, a tourist attraction or an educational tool for further learning of the major impacts of the 1931 earthquake, I highly recommend Audiotourz new Napier Earthquake audio tour. I feel fortunate to have been apart of the first group to experience this enlightening tour which combines the opportunity of visiting significant sights from before and after the infamous earthquake, such as the location of the only surviving building, and listening to both personal encounters from survivors and auditory depictions of historical events from the quake. In addition it provides a scenic walk around the city centre where one can admire the beautiful Art Deco architectural buildings that were built in place of the ruins that left a city devastated. As a teacher of georgraphy from the Kapiti Coast, I can truly say that this activity offered by Audiotourz was the most informative and enjoyable resource I could offer my year 11 Geography students. This is due to the flexibility of the tour, enabling students to take their time listening to the audio recordings and record relevant information at their own pace. We combined the Earthquake tour with Napier Prisons new audio tour and had an enjoyable most edifying excursion, and beautiful walk, all of which is admirabley supported by very friendly and enthusiastic staff.
